Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) is an explosive safety hazard that may constitute an imminent and substantial danger to personnel performing Site Investigation, Construction work, Remedial Design, or Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste (HTRW) activities. FPM Military Munitions Response personnel are competent in developing and executing MEC Anomaly Avoidance procedure for different projects, while maintaining standard regulatory requirement of Explosives Safety and Health.
Anomaly avoidance techniques are implemented for activities that include, but are not limited to, surveying and mapping, environmental and natural resource assessments, surface and subsurface sampling, boring and drilling, groundwater monitoring, installation of signs and fences, etc. FPM provides the required qualified Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) escort personnel or UXO- support team to guide any intrusive work in areas known or suspected to contain MEC or Material Presenting a Potential Explosive Hazard (MPPEH).
